Japan Highly Skilled Professional Visa
The Japanese government established Japan Highly Skilled Professional visa in 2012, and Japan System for Special Highly Skilled Professionals visa in April 2023. The purpose is to attract outstanding foreign talents to work in Japan, and provide preferential treatment conditions that ordinary work visas do not have, such as expanding the application conditions for permanent residence and expedited visa processing, etc.

Application Requirements
Traditional Highly-Professional Visa
1. Reach at least 70 points on the point-based system.
2. Have at least 5 years’ experience in business management or operations proven by related documents
3. Age shall under 65 year’s old
4. Set up a company in Japan, and the capital should be at least 5 million JPY（Better to be at least 10 million JPY), an eligible physical office is required as well. All relevant licenses of operating business nature must be acquired.
Special Highly-Professional Visa
1. Have at least 5 years’ experience in business management or operations proven by related documents.
2. Age shall under 65 year’s old
3. Set up a company in Japan, and the capital should be at least 5 million JPY, an eligible physical office is required as well. All relevant licenses of operating business nature must be acquired.
4. The applicant should be able to be salaried of at least 40 million JPY from the Japanese company once get the Special Highly-Skilled Professional Visa and lands in Japan.
Program Benefits
1. Obtain the long-term residency visa valid for 5 years, which is also renewable.
2. Sponsor 2 domestic helpers/nanny under this category of visa.
3. Applicant’s spouse is allowed to do full-time job in Japan.
4. Eligible to apply for permanent residency in Japan after three years if the applicant reach 70 points on the Point Evaluation Mechanism, while the applicant who scores for 80 points or more can apply after 1 year of residence.
5. Get priority at major airports.
6. This category of visa can be submitted online and will be processed with priority.
7. Exempt from gift and inheritance tax.
8. Allowed to bring parents that meet specific circumstances.
